AVEBURY STONE CIRCLE
Avebury Stone Circle
The Avebury Stone Circle, part of the larger Avebury complex in Wiltshire, is one of the largest and most impressive Neolithic stone circles in the world. Constructed around 2600 BC, the circle consists of a vast outer ring of standing stones enclosing two smaller inner circles. The Avebury complex also includes avenues of paired stones leading away from the circle, as well as nearby barrows and mounds, all contributing to its status as a site of immense archaeological importance. Unlike Stonehenge, Avebury is unique in that a modern village is situated within the ancient monument, allowing visitors to explore the site in an immersive and personal way. The Avebury Stone Circle, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, continues to captivate those interested in prehistoric culture and spirituality.
